Creators on Earthist operate as independent contractors. You are not an employee of Earthist or of the business that hires you. You set your own hours, choose which jobs to accept, supply your own equipment, and may work for other platforms or clients.
Where the Closing Loopholes Act 2024 applies an “employee like worker” classification to your engagements, the minimum standards in section 6 apply.
Creators set their own rates. Earthist suggests a floor of $80 per hour for time on site to keep the market sustainable. You are free to price above or below this floor.
Quotes are binding once accepted by a client. Cancellation by the creator within 24 hours of the booking may incur a small platform fee, capped per the schedule in your dashboard.
Funds are held in escrow and released when the buyer approves the deliverable, or automatically after 72 hours from delivery if no objection is raised.
Earthist calculates a 12% super contribution on the labour portion of every booking, charged to the buyer on top of the creator fee. Super is paid quarterly to your nominated super fund. From 1 July 2026 this becomes payday super in line with ATO rules.
You must provide a valid ABN before your first payout. ID verification is required via Stripe Identity.
Earthist will not deactivate a creator account without notice. If we propose to deactivate or restrict your access, we commit to:
Immediate suspension is reserved only for safety, fraud, or legal risks. In those cases the same right of reply applies after the fact.
Disputes between a creator and a buyer are reviewed in app by Earthist within 5 business days. We will read both sides, review delivered files and chat history held in escrow, and issue a written decision.
If either party is not satisfied, the matter may be escalated to the Fair Work Commission for employee-like worker disputes, or to the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman. Earthist will cooperate with both.
Earthist follows the minimum standards introduced by the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2024 for digital platform workers. Where you are classified as an employee like worker, you are entitled to:
You may close your creator account at any time from settings. Existing bookings must be honoured or cancelled per the cancellation rules.
Earthist may terminate this agreement only in accordance with sections 4 and 5, or if required by law. Records will be retained per APP 11, see the Privacy Policy.
