Privacy Policy

Earthist follows the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988. We adopt the APPs voluntarily even while our annual turnover is below the $3 million threshold, because trust matters more to us than legal minimums.

To run the marketplace we collect:

• Profile information: name, photo, business details, ABN, tagline.
• Location data: suburb and approximate coordinates for matching.
• Payment data: held by Stripe. We see masked card and payout details only.
• ID verification: passed through to Stripe Identity for the verification result. We do not store the underlying ID document.
• Communications: in app chat and dispute messages.

Your information is used to:

• Match jobs to nearby creators.
• Process payments and remit super.
• Keep the platform safe, including fraud prevention and trust signals.
• Resolve disputes between buyers and creators.
• Improve the product based on aggregate, de identified usage.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your photos or content to train AI models.

Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Servers are located in Australia. We retain personal data only for as long as needed to provide the service or to meet legal obligations, in line with APP 11. When you close your account we delete or de identify personal data within 90 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, financial records under the ATO retention rules).

We disclose personal data only to:

• Stripe, for payments, payouts, and ID verification.
• Your nominated super fund, for quarterly remittance.
• Legal authorities, when required by law or court order.

We will never sell or rent your data to advertisers or data brokers.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Request deletion, subject to retention obligations.
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
